ARCAM Launches Radia Series Loudspeakers

ARCAM returns to loudspeakers with a complete range for music and home cinema

ARCAM has announced the Radia Series loudspeakers, marking its return to speaker design. The line-up – two bookshelf models, a centre channel, a subwoofer, and two floorstanders – provides a complete solution for both music and home cinema setups. The speakers perform seamlessly with any high-quality hi-fi or home cinema system, with additional fine-tuning available when used alongside specific Radia electronics.

A return to speaker design

While ARCAM has focused primarily on electronics since its founding 50 years ago in Cambridge, loudspeakers are not new to the brand. In 1985, ARCAM introduced the highly-regarded ARCAM Two bookshelf speakers, and more recently, designed the Muso loudspeakers. With the Radia Series, ARCAM returns to loudspeakers, applying five decades of audio engineering excellence alongside the advanced research, measurement, and testing facilities available through HARMAN. At the same time as this announcement, ARCAM is revealing three AV amplifiers and an AV processor for the Radia Series, enabling fully integrated Radia multichannel sound systems.

Design and appearance

The Radia loudspeakers follow the established Radia design language, with a subtle yellow accent and cabinets finished in premium Black Walnut wood veneer. Magnetically attached grilles create a clean, uninterrupted front profile, while optional solid aluminium stands are available for the bookshelf models. The speakers integrate easily into living spaces and pair equally well with Radia electronics or other high-quality hi-fi and home cinema systems.

System matching and versatility

The Radia loudspeakers work seamlessly with other-brand electronics, but when paired with the ARCAM SA35 or SA45 streaming amplifiers, each speaker can be fine-tuned via ARCAM’s anechoic EQ (AEQ). The electronics’ output is automatically optimised to maximise accuracy of each speaker, enhancing sound quality within a straightforward home audio setup. AEQ will also be available on the upcoming Radia Series AV products, ensuring the entire range delivers its absolute best performance.

Cabinets and drivers

The cabinets are rigidly cross‑braced for stability and control. All five passive loudspeakers feature a 25 mm (1‑inch) DCC aluminium dome tweeter mounted in an Acoustic Lens waveguide. This waveguide improves dispersion and phase alignment, creating a more even sound across the listening area and a stable, well‑defined stereo image.

Low‑ and mid-frequency performance is handled by Micro Ceramic Composite (MCC) cone woofers, chosen for their combination of stiffness and low mass. The R15, R35, and R35C models use a 130 mm (5.25‑inch) MCC driver, while the larger R25 and R45 models employ a 165 mm version.

Midrange duties are handled by Deep Ceramic Composite (DCC) drivers: the R35 uses a 130 mm unit, and the R45 a 165 mm unit. Completing the range, the R25B subwoofer features a 250 mm (10‑inch) coated fibre-composite cone woofer, delivering precise, controlled bass that brings both music and film soundtracks to life.

Radia Series by model

R15

The entry-level Radia bookshelf features a two-way crossover design, combining a 25 mm (1‑inch) DCC aluminium dome tweeter in an Acoustic Lens waveguide with a 130 mm MCC cone woofer. Like all Radia passive loudspeakers, it can be fine-tuned via an anechoic EQ when paired with the ARCAM SA35, SA45, or Radia AV products.

R25

The largest Radia bookshelf model also uses a two-way crossover, with a 165 mm MCC cone woofer and the same 25 mm tweeter used across the series in an Acoustic Lens waveguide. Its slightly larger cabinet accommodates the bigger woofer, supporting extended low-frequency response while keeping the speaker suitable for bookshelf placement.

R25B

The R25B subwoofer provides deep, controlled bass, whether used to enhance a 2.1 music system or as part of a full surround setup. It houses a 750-watt digital amplifier, driving a 250 mm (10‑inch) coated fibre-composite cone woofer.

R35C

The centre speaker is a critical part of any surround sound system, often carrying around half of all on-screen dialogue. ARCAM has engineered the R35C to excel in this role, with a 25 mm (1‑inch) DCC aluminium dome tweeter mounted in an Acoustic Lens waveguide for wide, even dispersion and precise imaging, and a brace of 130 mm (5.25‑inch) MCC cone woofers for natural low- and mid-range presence.

R35

The R35 is the more compact floorstanding model in the Radia series, featuring a three-way crossover design. It uses a 25 mm DCC dome tweeter in the Acoustic Lens waveguide, three 130 mm MCC cone woofers for low frequencies, and a single 130 mm DCC cone midrange driver. Designed to pair seamlessly with the ARCAM Radia SA35, the R35 delivers precise imaging, balanced bass, and clear, natural midrange, making it ideal for smaller to medium-sized rooms or tighter setups.

R45

The R45 is the ultimate loudspeaker in the Radia Series, also employing a three-way crossover. It features three 165 mm MCC cone woofers for low frequencies, a 165 mm DCC cone driver for midrange, and a 25 mm DCC dome aluminium tweeter in the range’s Acoustic Lens waveguide. It is the ideal match for the ARCAM Radia SA45, offering authority, detailed imaging, and extended low-frequency response for larger rooms.

‘We are proud to launch the Radia Series loudspeakers,’ said Mike Strange, Global Product Line Manager at ARCAM. ‘They complement the Radia Series perfectly and, thanks to our talented engineers and HARMAN’s world-class facilities, deliver the same remarkable standard of performance as our electronics. Our new loudspeakers integrate fully with ARCAM amplifiers and AV products, while excelling with any high-quality system.’

With the Radia Series loudspeakers, ARCAM brings 50 years of audio expertise to a fresh category. The range blends elegant design, precise engineering, and the versatility to perform across a wide variety of audio systems.
