Music Systems

There are few companies in the hi-fi business that can claim to have introduced as many people to better music reproduction than Arcam. Born in the mid 1970’s, Arcam (or “A&R Cambridge” as it was known then) set out to prove that a sensibly priced hi-fi amplifier that was cleverly engineered could deliver the sort of performance only usually found in vastly more expensive specialist manufacturers products.

Using new transistor technology, a simple, single circuit board design and slimline chassis with classic good looks the A60 amplifier was the first of a new breed. The performance delivered was astonishing, the price was affordable and the company grew quickly as a result. Thanks to Arcam’s approach music lovers were soon enjoying music like they never had before.

Today Arcam’s approach to music playback is the same as it's always been. Arcam products now offer streaming from computers and iPods as well as conventional sources like CD (compact disc) and radio (DAB, FM or Internet radio). Thirty five years on, we still use the best available technology, solid engineering principles and British ingenuity to deliver pristine sound quality and help bring wonderful music to life.
