Where has all the quality gone? iPod docking systems vs. old HiFi separates

Can today's standalone iPod dock systems really deliver proper sound quality? The BBC's Working Lunch program have tried to find out in a blind test on the general public and  using £250 worth of iPod and modern dock against £60 worth of ancient second-hand hifi separates.
