The advent of DVD has boosted sales of AV receivers
and whilst many of these do a reasonable job of reproducing
surround sound from movie soundtracks, they can be bitterly
disappointing when it comes to reproducing high quality music
sources. The new DiVA AVR200 supersedes Arcam's first home cinema
receiver, the very successful and well reviewed AVR100. This is a
very hard act to follow, but the new AVR200 rises to the challenge
perfectly.
Styled similarly to its predecessor, the AVR200 sports substantial
improvements to its performance. The AVR200 conveys cinema sound
with exceptional detail and clarity, faithfully reproducing every
subtle nuance and blockbuster explosion - just as the film director
intended. However, as with all Arcam amplifiers, the AVR200 never
forgets its hi-fi heritage: it comes as no surprise that its
stereo music reproduction is outstanding, which clearly differentiates
the AVR200 from its competitors within the same price range and
makes it a worthy partner for the award winning Arcam DV88 Plus DVD
player. The addition of Dolby Pro Logic II brings big benefits to
the reproduction of two channel music and movies sourced from TV,
VCR, CD or radio.
