The AV50 is very versatile. It has inputs for four composite video sources and seven line level audio sources. Additionally, there are video outputs for your VCR and TV monitor, an audio tape loop and a stereo headphones socket. The tone controls are bypassable for the best possible sound quality. Rated power output from the five identical I.C. power modules is 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms or 65 watts per channel into 4 ohm speakers. And a large toroidal power transformer helps ensure excellent audio quality at all levels.
All the main outputs are available on phono sockets, at the correct levels to allow bi-amping of any of your speakers using the AV50's internal power amplifiers for treble and external Arcam 8P or 9P amplifiers for the bass. The AV50 uses a motorised six gang volume control, which is also accessible via the external decoder input button on the front panel and a further six phono sockets on the rear panel. This allows the AV50 to be used with future 5.1 style discrete multichannel audio sources such as Dolby Digital AC-3 or Digital Theater Systems' (DTS).
From Autumn 2000, the AV50 is no longer in production, having been superseded by the Arcam AVR100 AV Receiver from the DiVA range.
